Lee and Tiffany Lakosky didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming farmers. The Minneapolis suburb natives instead pursued careers as a chemical engineer and flight attendant respectively. However, a shared passion for hunting set them on an unexpected path to farming.

It started when Lee began writing hunting articles, which led to their first TV show on Realtree’s Monster Bucks series just by filming their hunts. The risk of Lee quitting his engineering job to host their own show “Crush with Lee and Tiffany” on the Outdoor Channel paid off – it became the highest-rated program in the channel’s history.

“It was not something that we set out to do, it just fell in our laps,” Tiffany said. “God definitely had a plan.”

As their TV careers took off, the Lakosky’s realized another dream – acquiring farmland in southeast Iowa to complement their hunting lifestyle. “We feel so fortunate that in this day and age we had the opportunity through hunting to acquire land to farm,” Lee explained.

What started as rented farmland became their own operation. Lee sees farming as preparation for hunting season by providing food plots and crops for deer. “Ever since adding in the farm work, he says that hunting has gone from a seasonal activity that he looked forward to, to a year-round process that he loves.”

The simple farm life has been enriching for their family as well. Their children Cameron and Raygen enjoy tagging along for tractor rides, hunts, and fishing trips – a welcomed break from distractions and technology.

“I love how farming is a simple analogy for life,” Tiffany reflected. “We see what valuable things it is already teaching our kids.”

As the Lakosky’s farming operation grows, they continue looking for efficient equipment like the recently acquired Degelman Pro-Till to prepare their land each season. From urban beginnings to rural farm life, it’s been an unexpected but fulfilling journey.…
